The Christmas Tales are holy gifts that the great English writer Charles Dickens for five years (1843-1848) presented to his compatriots. The collection includes three from five written. The hero of the first of them, the nephew of the grouse and the lumber of the Scrooge, tells the reader the main moral idea of the whole cycle: "I have always been waiting for these days as the best in the year. These are joyful days - days of mercy, kindness, forgiveness. People freely reveal their hearts to each other and see in their neighbors - even in the poor and destitute - people like themselves. Dickens hoped that his good novels, inhabited by ghosts and elves, filled with a New Year’s clock, ringing of bells, plentiful feasts and fun miracles, would help people cope with all the troubles and grow hope for the best in their hearts. So today, watching some American television series, which certainly ends with a happy Christmas evening, we will recall Dickens, about whom they said that it was “invented by Christmas".
