Roman Antonio Orlando Rodriguez is a fictional biography of the Cuban Lilipot Espyrididios (1869-1945), better known as Chikita (baby) At the end of the 19th century, she came to New York to win the glory of the dancer and singer. And she really managed to become one of the highest paid celebrities of her time. The elegant, full of witty plot turns, Roman presents a detailed picture of the era, generous with public unrest and technological miracles, era, when the so -called “mistakes of nature” aroused lively interest.
Antonio Orlando Rodriguez (b. 1956) - one of the leading modern Latin American writers, critic and journalist. Born in Cuba, studied journalism at Gavan University, since 1999 has been living and working in the USA. Fame was brought to him by books for children and adolescents. In 2008, Rodriguez became the laureate of the Alfaguar Award - the most prestigious literary award of the Spanish -speaking world. The jury, which awarded the novel “Nikita”, choosing it from 500 texts, responded to him like this: “This work was performed by the beating of life. The author’s narrative is distinguished by stylistic skill and an inexhaustible fantasy. Before the reader, as if an impeccable concert, the story of an amazing character is played out. ”
Roman was also awarded Florida Book Awards 2008 in the category Best Book in Spanish
