The collection includes "aesthetic tales", stories in which the plot is only a canvas for elegant verbal structures. The author is more concerned about the rhythm and consonance of words, the game of meanings, references to historical images and literature monuments. In the "Tale of the Fisherman", for example, the ornate images from the "thousand and one night" and the misadventures of the Apuleyev donkey mixed, and in the "fairy tale about the Balda", the priest is the hero of the banal "Maupassan history", while the story of Balda is stated in the genre " Life ". The "Orchestra Pit" illustrates the morphology of the fairy tale, and the adventures of the aristocratic "Twinkle" are a whole heroic myth, which is reduced to the household plane of an ordinary St. Petersburg court. In the history of "about the cat de Voir", Baudelaire and Kant are mentioned, and the heroine "rests on the seventh day (it was Saturday), which refers the reader to the book of Genesis. Tales are written easily and elegant, with a sense of humor. The book also included poetry from four poetic cycles: "first snow" - a sad autumn lyrics, "Gothic" - mystical fantasies, "fairy tales" - short ballads and the “Siberian tract” - poems about the soul, paganism and Christianity
