The book presents the life story of three school friends - our contemporaries. Each of them went its own way in life. One of the friends, the most curious, became a scientist, the other, the most beautiful, got married, and the third, the most wise, became a nun. In declining years, two long -standing friends meet, recall the events of the past, try to find an explanation for them, understand the tragedies and the laws of their life. The narrative is carried out in the form of diary entries of one of the heroines and contained the events that took place in our time, as well as in the previous years of the life of three main characters and a number of other characters of the book that fell in the field of view of the author
