The monograph is dedicated to the art worlds I.S. Turgenev. The first part comprehensively examines the manor space of the writer with his plots, conflicts, characters, cultural and literary codes. Particular attention is paid to the image of the "Turgenev girl", considered in the cultural and historical context. The second part reveals the intermediality of Turgenev texts, their internal connection with the works of music and painting by the Flemish and Barbizon art schools. Separate sections are devoted to the musical and literary co -creation of Turgenev and Polina Viardot, in which the Russian writer acts in a new role - the creator of texts for musical albums and the author of vocal translations. In the third part of the monograph, Turgenev appears as a "Russian European", a cultural intermediary between Russia and Europe, his friendly and creative ties with French writers (Flobert, Georges Sand, Zola, Louis Viardot) are explored.
