“Epilogue” is the fourth book that completes the publication of the great experimental novel “River without Bores”. This novel is a revolution in sensory perception, a unique phenomenon of world literature of the twentieth century.
“Epilogue” (published posthumously in 1961)-a fragment of the unfinished third part of the “River without Bores”, the main work of the German writer, created in 1935-1947. On the Danish island of Bornholm. The novel is a reflection of the fragmentation that Yann at the end of his life perceived as a characteristic feature of all his activities: “My own life is a series of incomplete or not amenable to the completion of processes,” he wrote to the publisher Peter Zurkamp in May 1958
In the center of the narrative of growing up - the meeting of Nikolai, the illegitimate son of the composer Gustav Anias Horne and Hemma, and Ajax, the killers of his father, who is herself for his friend Horn, Alfred Tutayna. In this part of the event, previously diversely branched in time and space, are considered from a new angle.
The book contains comments on the translator and philologist Tatyana Baskakova, as well as a detailed article about the through images of the novel, complemented by a color tab with dozens of art works that help understand the work of Yannah.
“The“ river without shores ”conjures a world that does not exist, which exists only in our dreams and desires, in our forebodings and mania, in our despair and our inspiring impulses. Yann fulfills a fundamental requirement for any artistic work: he creates his own, only belonging to the world inside and through the language. “A river without shores” is a vaulted overlap of fate, a monumental understanding of life and death, and the supporting pillars in it are called futility and frail. The only thing that can preserve the global of the earth is art. ” Uwe Schweykert
Man ... I beg you to show compassion for him, even if he is the worst of the outcasts. Hans Henny Yann
