“40 degrees in the shade” is an autobiographical novel by Yuri Ginzburg.
At the peak of his career, a hero, 50-year-old doctor of technical sciences, professor, specialist in the field of cars and other self-propelled machines, in the early 90s moves from Chelyabinsk to Israel-his own, on an old Audi-80, accompanied by a 16-year-old son and a purebred Doberman. After numerous adventures on the road, he gets to the promised land, where he experiences all the “charms” of the emigration of a highly qualified intelligent person with an unsuitable assimilation of a specialty for the country. Not wanting, like many of his brothers, to put up with the total proletarization of Soviet emigrants, he opens a number of projects in Israel, meets many people, works in many countries of America, Europe, Asia and Africa - and he also has something to tell about it!
