Josephine Tey (real name - Elizabeth Mackintosh, 1896–1952) - a famous writer, daughter of a Scotsman and an Englishwoman, a recognized master of British detective fiction. The novels "Miss Pym Disposes" (1946) and "Brat Farrar" (1949) belong to the late period of her work and explore the dark sides of human nature. Who can easily cross the forbidden line, and who will never take that step? Tey leads her characters through ambiguous situations, they have to figure out both complicated circumstances and their own souls: "What about an illegal, but very profitable trick? "The Privateer" (1952) - the last novel of the writer, it was published posthumously under the pseudonym Gordon Daviot. It is an adventure-filled fictional biography of Henry Morgan, the famous pirate, privateer, and sailor.
