"The Mirror for a Hero" is one of the most famous works of Soviet literature from the "late USSR" period. The film adaptation of the same name (directed by Vladimir Khotinenko) became a cultural and philosophical phenomenon. Six years later, in Hollywood, following the same literary device as in "The Mirror..." - the characters' time travel to the past - "Groundhog Day" was created, and in Russia, several more films with a similar plot device were made. The novel "White Guard Love in the Coal Basin" ("Beauty and Generals") about the Civil War in the Donbass, on the Don River, in Crimea, features its main characters as aviators, miners, and officers of the Volunteer Army. The stories "Flight Plan to Heaven," "Sleeping Lions," "Legend of the Pilot Who Flew Away," and "Salvation" are outstanding works in the modern "short genre."
