Collection N. in. Gogol "Mirgorod" (1835) is one of the pearls of classical Russian literature. Stories included in this cycle - "Starlavetsky landlords", "Viy", "Taras Bulba", "story about how Ivan Ivanovich was quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich" - were the most important milestones in the development of Russian prose and have long become the shittomaty. The book included the text of the first edition, supplemented by fragments and draft records, entered the book. The publication contains an article about the historical prose of Gogol and an extensive commentary to the texts
