The cult of saints held a special place in the religious life of Western Europe during the Middle Ages. As intermediaries between the earthly and spiritual realms, saints acted as advocates for people before the face of God. Embedded in the very flesh of medieval society, saints, both in life and after death, embodied the high Christian ideal, acting as formidable admonishers and wise comforters. The miracles they performed served as the main confirmation of their sanctity. The book contains stories of miracles of saints from different parts of Western Europe - Frankish, Irish, English, German, Romance. Compared to the laconic sources - chronicles and annals, - the lives of saints reflect the real life of a medieval person much more fully. The reader will be presented with pictures of everyday life, depicting representatives of all layers of society at that time - kings, warriors, commoners.
