General reference materials are given: the basic concepts and elements of cutting, the geometry of the milling cutter, the types of milling plants, the scope of instrumental materials, the classification of metal -cutting machines, the device and kinematics of milling machines with manual control and CNC, as well as multi -purpose machines for the processing of corps blanks. Attention is paid to kinematic setting and adjusting the machines of the milling group. The technology of milling of planes, ledges, grooves, shaped surfaces, as well as processing of teeth and slots on milling machines, installation and fixing of blanks on the machine, methods and means of quality control of parts are considered.
