Your Honor

The novel of the outstanding Catalan writer Zhaum Kabre “Your Honor” (1991) was created long before his famous “I confess”. But even then the writer was worried about the topic of the powers that be, judicial corruption and absolute power, for which there is only the right of strong.
Winter of 1799. In Barcelona, ​​rains do not stop, the city seems paralyzed, and nevertheless, social life is in full swing. It seems that the aristocrats are only concerned about how to celebrate the onset of a new, nineteenth century. TE Deum is performed in the cathedral, and a series of secular techniques unfolds in the luxurious halls ... But the festive atmosphere is overshadowed by the strange murder of the French singer. The young poet was arrested, which accidentally ended up not at that time in the wrong place. He was unconditionally found guilty, especially since he discovered documents that could lead to a fall in “your honor” - Don Rafel Masso, chairman of the Supreme Court. It is known that this person, endowed with power to execute or mercy, has one weakness: he loves beautiful women. So what will it outweigh: justice or power, executioner or victim, I did not kill her! one or “I didn"t want to” the other? ..
