As a result of cooperation between the authoritative British historian, writer and journalist Dan Jones and the talented Brazilian artist Marina Amaral, a unique visualization of the history of wars and revolutions from 1914 to 1945 was created. This book contains about 200 photographs, each of which was originally taken in black and white and painted specifically for this publication. It presents an epic, exciting history of four decades of the global conflict, which began with the murder of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and ended with the destruction of Hiroshima by the explosion of the first atomic bomb in the history of the atomic bomb. This is a story not only about the gigantic fires of the First and Second World Wars, as well as about ideological and economic confrontations that lit them, but also about the revolution in Russia, civil wars in Ireland and Spain, the US invasion of Latin America, colonial wars in Morocco, Ethiopia and Palestine, about the internal fronts of the fighting powers and the influence of all these tragic events on the lives of ordinary people on all continents. The “long war” of the 20th century has formed the world in which we live today.
