In the second volume, the finds of swords are represented, localized or associated with Russian lands in the era of the Middle Ages from the 2nd floor. XI to the beginning of the XVI century. The presented sample of swords and their reconstruction covers the vast territories of the Russian principalities and lands from Karelia to the Caucasus and Volyn to the Ural Mountains (and even Western Siberia) With rare exceptions, either entire swords or their fairly representative fragments were taken into account. The order of finds of finds (247 copies) puts Rus" in terms of the armament of the troops with these knightly weapons on a par with other European countries. So, according to the research of 1984, the finds of the Romanesque swords of the same period are: in Czechoslovakia - 96 copies, in the GDR - 95 copies., In Poland - 183 copies, in Hungary - 63 copies. Obviously, such a number of findings of weapons can be considered as a kind of marker not only of the tactical techniques of medieval combat, but also of military affairs of the land as a whole, military traditions, the mentality and education of military contingents.
Processes of distribution in time and distribution of swords in various regions of Rus" are closely correlated with each other, although they have their own territorial-time characteristics. And this once again testifies to the initial unity of military affairs, weapons, combat tactics and cultural -military traditions of the squad contingents in the vast territories of medieval Orthodox Rus" - the Unified ancestral home of Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians
