The monograph is devoted to one of the peculiar stories of the history of the First World War - it analyzes attempts by Kaiser Germany to use a religious factor in the military confrontation of the Entente countries. German politicians, military and diplomats represented Germany as a country friendly to the Islamic world and developed a strategy for the "revolutionization" of Muslims to contrast them with Russia, England and France. A significant part of the prisoners of war-Muslims of the Russian Army was collected in the "special" propaganda camps, among them propaganda work was actively carried out in order to involve Germany and the Ottoman Empire. Based on a wide range of historical sources, the authors of the monograph explore the fate of prisoners of war of Russian Muslims in these camps.
The monograph will be useful to a wide circle of readers interested in the history of the First World War, the role of Islam in the military-political events of the beginning of the twentieth century, as well as the history of the Tatar people
