In the center of the book is a collection of front -line letters of Lieutenant G. F. Zhukov (1908–1971), commander of a mortar platoon. The letters are supplemented by fragments of the wartime diary, a selection of documents, photographs and other evidence related to the author and his family. Biographical details also cover the pre -war and post -war period, allowing you to form an idea of the specific fate of the Soviet school teacher and - more widely - experiences, fears, hopes and faith of the Soviet man who went to war and became a soldier, as well as about relatives who were waiting for his return. This epistolary collection, rare from the point of view of integrity and completeness, can act as the subject of historical and sociolinguistic analysis, reflecting the features of the language and realities of the Soviet era.
