The book tells about an attempt by three special services - the KGB, the CIA and the West German BND - to access the card index of the agent archives of the State Duma of the GDR. Events unfold in 1989-1990. in Germany. The author at that time worked in Berlin by the Sobriner of the newspaper Trud, was an eyewitness to the events described and personally knew some of their participants. The main attention is paid to the attempts of the CIA to identify in its ranks the “mole”, through the fault of which the United States lost a number of agents in the most important scientific, diplomatic and intelligence structures of the USSR. One of the ways was access to the Foreign Intelligence Foreign Intelligence MGB GDR, since there was information about the close cooperation of external intelligence of the KGB of the USSR and the State Duma of the GDR. This operation bore the code name pink, and its details are still classified. In order to implement it, the recruitment of the former foreign intelligence head of the GDR Marcus Wolf was carried out. We are talking about the international life of the period when events unfold: the collapse of the USSR, the unification of Germany, the activities of the Main Directorate “A” (foreign intelligence of the State Duma of the GDR), related to the attempt to preserve its structure and personnel, it is told about the methods of work of special services at that time. The book is based on the memoirs of the leading scouts of that time of the USSR, Eastern and West Germany, the USA, publications in German and American publications, as well as the author’s personal observations. The main actors Soviet KGB officer Alexander and the CIA agent Jim are real characters who are no longer alive
