The largest Russian military scientist V. G. Fedorov (1874-1966) entered our history as the founder of the domestic school of guardian designers and the inventor of the first Russian machine gun.
In his unique work "History of the Rifle", published on the eve of the Great Patriotic War, the author talks about how gradually, as military art developed, rifle weapons changed and improved. The book in chronological order describes in detail its numerous samples - from the throwing weapons of ancient times (bows, slings, balances, darts, crossbows, arquebuses), flint rifles and muskets - before creating the legendary 3 -line rifle of Mosin and the first automatic rifles and machines of the XX centuries. Author"s drawings and drawings of the 1940 publication are complemented by color photographs of small arms and private collections, works of classical battal painting.
The book is addressed to everyone who is interested in the history of weapons. In order to promote the study of history, the book is recommended by the Russian Military Historical Society
