The labor presented is a continuation of a series of publications that combine the results of long-term research of socialist historians involved in the study of weapons from museum and private assemblies. The collection includes relevant reviewed articles on the history of the weapons workshops of Russia, the countries of the West and the East, the history of the formation of weapons museum and private collections, on the scientific attribution of weapons monuments, as well as about masters, designers, owners and collectors of weapons. The publication includes earlier archival materials related to individual weapons monuments and collections. Much attention is paid to the topic of court weapons centers and the study of masterpieces created by the best gunsmiths of Russia, Europe and the East. Of particular interest is the theme of weapons in a wide anthropological and cultural context: its place in the sign system of various societies, the symbolism of weapons and its reflection in the visual arts and literature. The publication is intended for specialists, museum employees, collectors, as well as for teachers and historians interested in weapons theme.
