Three heroes of this book made a huge contribution to the formation of Soviet special services and the struggle with the enemies of our country.
The first (H. Mamsurov) acted in Spain, became the prototype of the protagonist of the novel For whom the bell, in the Soviet-Finnish war, commanded the ski sabotage brigade. He became the hero of the Soviet Union, a general. After the war, he became deputy chief of military intelligence, created modern special forces.
The second (I. Banov) during the Great Patriotic War commanded the operational reconnaissance-sabotage center of the GRU in the rear of the enemy. He caused great damage to the Nazis. He was an experienced, highly professional, talented commander-sabotage, rose to the general and became the hero of the Soviet Union.
The third (D. Gerasimov) led the special forces sabotage brigade in Afghanistan, later a detachment of special operations management in Chechnya. Being commander of a special squad Vympel, together with Alfa, saved the country from the civil war. He was presented to the title of Hero of the Soviet Union
