The history of the group of Major Shelestov is similar to the real history of the large agent Abwehr, the former headquarters captain of the tsarist army Nelidov, who fell into the Lubyanka in September 1939. The adventures of Maxim Shelestov and his comrades described in this novel look like the same as probable against the background of Nelidov’s story.
