On February 25, 1916, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Empire was replenished with another ship - the armored cruiser Prut entered the system. Unlike other ships of the Russian Imperial Fleet, the cruiser was not built at Russian factories and was not ordered abroad - it was a trophy.
The armored cruiser Majidia built in the USA for the Turkish fleet participated in the Balkan wars, and during the First World War he acted on the Black Sea. On April 3, 1915, while trying to fire to Odessa, the cruiser was blown up on a Russian mine and sank. However, he was soon raised and after repair and rearmament was included in the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In May 1918, Germanic interventions captured him in Sevastopol and returned Turkey, in whose fleet, under the former name Medjidia ", the cruiser served until the early 50s of the 20th century.
The proposed book of one of the leading specialist is a detailed story about the design, construction and combat service of the cruiser "Prut"
