Twenty -five years ago, the federal troops crossed the administrative border of Chechnya to ensure the territorial integrity of the Russian state, the restoration of the constitutional order and public security in the territory of this subject of the Russian Federation. Thus began the first Chechen war, undeclared and bloody, in terms of the scale of betrayal and political cynicism, which has no equal in the latest history of Russia.
The main characters in this war and the book holding the reader in their hands were soldiers, officers and generals who, paying for the miscalculations of politicians, showed courage and heroism and fulfilled their military duty to the end. Many are at the cost of their life. Military journalist Colonel of the reserve Gennady Alyokhin is a direct participant and witness of those dramatic events. In his book, he opens the veil and secret springs of war, analyzes the causes and consequences of the conflict, his information component, returning to many forgotten exploits well -deserved glory, and the participants in the tragic events are names.
In the dashing nineties of the last century, our country was experiencing a troubled time: it faded literally before our eyes, the prestige of the army was rapidly falling. But it was precisely the people in uniforms who have passed the tests of two Chechen wars, who remained faithful to the traditions of duty and military honor, who could not even hesitate about this, managed to fulfill the main task - to stop the collapse of Russia.
