The manual considers the main problems of the theory and practice of teaching the Russian language as a foreign in a higher school. It summarizes the modern experience of teaching the course “Methods of teaching the Russian language as foreign” to philologists specializing in the field of teaching the Russian language, from the position of the Law “On Education in the Russian Federation” (2012), new standards of higher education of the 3rd generation (GEF (GEF Federal State Educational Standard -3, 2013) and a competency -based approach to education that implements the concept of a new standard.
