The methodological manual describes the main methods of removing soot from the works of easel painting: icons, paintings, works of decorative and applied art (polychrome sculpture, carved gilded iconostases, kyotes) The use of a particular method is largely determined by the depth of the penetration of soot into the cover layer of painting and the safety of the picturesque layer itself. The practical removal of a stabbing layer using the described methods is illustrated by a number of photos. The manual discusses the causes of soot for parish temples, both at present and in historical retrospective. Recommendations are given to reduce the growth rate of a stratum layer on objects of the interior of temples and, in particular, on the surface of picturesque monuments. The methodological manual is intended for restorer students, as well as for the checkers and elders of the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church
