The problem of mechanisms for mineral extraction, as well as the problem of substance sources, are fundamental issues in geology. They are of interest to petrochemists, geochemists, lithologists, geochronologists, ecologists, hydrogeologists, and hydrochemists. These problems arose as soon as attention was drawn to the peculiarities of the geological structure of objects. All modern means of studying rock substances were used in the process. Examples of the application of these solutions are described in many works. The foundations of a rigorous theory for solving the problem of substance sources were laid by G. For. They are based on elementary mathematical concepts related to dividing a segment in a given ratio and first-order linear equations. However, all these problem solutions have one significant drawback: they solve only direct problems, thus having a probabilistic, i.e. problematic, nature. Therefore, various aspects of studying these problems at a modern level using a new research method - the method of 'compensatory equations' - are discussed below with the aim of improving the quality and reliability of solutions to geological problems as a whole. It should be noted that the chapters provided are not sections of a monograph; they are a collection of published materials with the addition of some new data. Hence, there are some repetitions in terms of content and cited sources.
