Bernard Loneger is a Canadian philosopher and the theologian, Jesuit, a prominent representative of Transcendental Tomism. Among the many works of Loneger, two works are most well known and fundamentally significant: "Insight" (Insight, 1957) and "method in theology" (Method in Theology, 1971) is the book offered to the reader first and first translated into Russian. 1 The main role of Loneragan"s theology sees to act as an intermediary between the cultural matrix and religion inside this matrix. Based on this, he develops the doctrine of functional specializations of theology. It relies on the one hand, on a broader concept of the differentiation of the consciousness disclosed by intentional analysis, and on the other hand, to the post-classical understanding of the dynamic and pluralistic cultural nature. The result of this fundamental work becomes building a universal theological method, which in a broader sense can be considered as a general method of humanitarian sciences
