Is it possible to live everyday life without metals? Imagine if they suddenly disappeared - there would be no cars, no trains, no machines, not even a simple knife or screwdriver! And if metals disappeared completely, our planet would cease to exist: a void would form in place of its iron core. The magnetic field, created by the core, would also disappear, leaving us unprotected from cosmic radiation.
Moreover, a human being would not survive a second without metals. Without calcium, teeth and bones would crumble to dust, without iron, blood would stop carrying oxygen throughout the body, and without magnesium, plants would stop producing oxygen.
Of course, in a small book, you can't cover everything about metals and their characteristics. But it is clear: modern humans cannot do without knowledge of metals!
For elementary and middle school age.
