Oleg Vasilyev (r. 1931) is one of the leading artists of Russian unofficial art. In his work, Vasilyev connects the traditions of Russian realistic art of the XIX century with the traditions of the Russian avant-garde of the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1990, he lives and works in New York. The book included the memories of Oleg Vasilyeva, Essay, sketches, telling about his becoming as an artist, about his surroundings. Among the heroes of the book - Vladimir Andreevich Favorsky, Ilya Kabakov, Eric Bulatov, Vsevolod Nekrasov ... The book also includes an essay of famous art historians and artists about the artist itself
