Anna Vyrubova (1884-1964) was the daughter of the Chief Steward of His Imperial Majesty's Own Chancellery, A.S. Taneyev, a lady-in-waiting, and the closest friend of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. Her memoirs "Pages of My Life," letters from members of the imperial family, and excerpts from the so-called "Vyrubova Diary" are included in the book. The memoirs of Lady-in-Waiting Anna Vyubova, "Pages of My Life," were first published in the journal "Russian Chronicle" (Paris, 1922). Five years later (and by the tenth anniversary of the revolution), the Soviet magazine "Bygone Days" began publishing the "Vyrubova Diary" - a work that was very vulgar in form and vile in content. The former lady-in-waiting herself repeatedly stated that these notes were forged. The traditional authors of the fake Vyubov diary are considered to be the literary critic and historian P.E. Shchegolev and the writer A.N. Tolstoy.
