This small collection includes selected essays and stories by Orwell, written by him in 1931-1946, many of which have not been translated into Russian before.
No matter what the author of '1984' writes about - from his experience working in a bookstore and principles of making tea to fascism and democracy - his simple and uncomfortable thoughts do not become outdated and always make you think. And it seems that the need for this has arisen again.
"Think for yourself," Orwell insisted. "Otherwise, others will tell you what you should think."
