Karlis Ozols - the son of the peasant, Externus graduated from the real school in St. Petersburg and the Riga Polytechnic, becoming an engineer member. At the same time, worked at the factories in Russia. In 1915, he was sent by the Main Artillery Office in the United States. After the declaration of independence of Latvia in 1920 became the representative of the Latvian government in the United States. Then he was appointed Chairman of the ReaVacuation Commission in Moscow. In 1923-1929. Positions Ambassador, Emergency Messenger and Plenipotentiary Minister of Latvia in the USSR concludes non-aggression and trade agreements. In October 1934, he fell into opal and was fired from service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After the joining of Latvia to the USSR, August 25, 1940 was arrested. October 17 of the same year translated into prison in Moscow. On June 23, 1941, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR was sentenced to the death penalty.
