The textbook on pharmacognosy is intended for students of pharmaceutical universities and faculties of all forms of education. It can be used both during practical classes and for independent student work. The book consists of three parts: the first part describes general recommendations on collecting, drying, and storing medicinal plants, preparing medicinal forms from plants, and procedures for treating with herbs. The second and third parts discuss the use of medicinal plants and the medicinal properties of plant-based food products in folk and scientific medicine. The main focus is on their use in folk medicine, but information is also provided on preparations obtained from medicinal plant raw materials, medical prescriptions for the effective use of both medicinal plants and plant-based food products. For each plant, both the Russian and Latin names are given, and the places of their growth are briefly described. For convenience, at the end of the manual, there is a table listing the names of medicinal plants and food products used in the treatment of various diseases and conditions. The materials in the manual may be of interest not only to students but also to medical professionals of various specialties, as well as to anyone interested in medicinal plants.
