The textbook consists of four sections. The first section devoted to the issues of general virology includes basic information on the history of the development of virology, the characterization of virus morphology, data on their chemical composition and structure, systematics and interaction of viruses with various sensitive crops. The issues of the ecology and genetics of viruses, the pathogenesis of viral diseases and the characteristics of antiviral immunity, treatment and specific prevention are considered.
The second section covers the issues of private virology. Along with the description of the viruses, their biological characteristics, the basic pathogenetic features of diseases caused by certain viruses are given. The issues of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of viral diseases are considered.
In the third section - "Laboratory classes" - the virological methods of the study used in the diagnosis of diseases, the indication and identification of viruses, and the solution of diagnostic problems are set out.
In the fourth section entered into the textbook for the first time, the foundations of sanitary virology are considered. It provides final control tasks.
It is recommended for university students studying in the specialty of "Veterinary Medical Academy".
