In the manual of presentation, the basic principles of respiratory therapy, taking into account the characteristics of the physiology of newborn for practical doctors of anesthesiologists-resuscitators working in the conditions of a time deficit, technical and drugs. The anatomical and physiological features of the external respiration system in newborns are characterized. The compact form sets out the basic concepts of the physiology of respiration and the physiological foundations of the forced ventilation of the lungs, the principles and interpretation of graphic monitoring of pulmonary volumes, pressures and the stream carried out during artificial ventilation of the lungs. The necessary information on the terminology adopted in respiratory therapy is given. Given the great personal experience of treating children in severe and critical conditions, the author offers practically executable and logically sound techniques and methods of controlling the fan parameters, typical errors of selection of Ivl parameters are characterized and ways to prevent and relieve their consequences. The manual is written in a good literary language, illustrated by clinical examples. Complex aspects of the features of the biomechanics of the respiratory and the choice of parameters of the Ivl are stated in a form available for unprepared readers. The methodological manual can be recommended for postgraduate improvement of doctors of anesthesiologists-resuscitators both as a methodological material for learning on improvement cycles and for self-training
