Diagnosis and therapy of psychosomatic problems involves an appeal to the idea of mental and somatic unity. Another important attitude in the diagnosis of psychosomatic problems is the search for their causes, which involves a deep analysis of the structure of the client’s personality, his life experience and his life history. These ideas most fully reflect the author’s system -analytical approach in the diagnosis of a client based on the principles of systemicity, phenomenology and development. The main material for the use of this approach is the phenomenon of the symptom and the patient’s relationship to it.
At the conscious level, the client has a passionate desire to get rid of the symptom, while the other, the unconscious part stubbornly does not want to part with the symptom. The client with the help of psychotherapy wants to change his life, really without changing anything in it. Working with a symptom requires knowledge of such paradoxes in order to use the energy that is contained in them
