The only way to avoid damage to the return nerves is their visual control (Bobrov A. A., 1904, Lahey F.N., 1938, Lennquist S., 2004) during each operation for diseases of the thyroid and distinctive glands. These recommendations have been used by us since the beginning of the 1990s.
A thorough analysis of the anatomy and topography of the return laryngeal nerves was undertaken in the clinic of A.F. Romanchishen in the 2000s. To date, verification of 1717 of the return laryngeal nerves has been performed in 1076 patients, which ensured a 10-fold decrease in the frequency of postoperative paresis and paralysis of the larynx muscles. Identification of disorders of anatomical continuity of nerves with the help of monitoring and early conservative treatment of patients with paresis of muscles ensured the restoration of larynx functions in 87.5 % of observations in terms of 2 weeks. up to 6 months Video -based, combined with a computer analysis of the voice made it possible to document the diagnosis, evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and motivate the patient to continue the course of therapy.
The presented publication is one of the first objective joint scientific and practical research of surgeons and laryngologists, which will be interesting to endocrinologists, oncologists and healthcare organizers
