The book is devoted to the urgent medical and social problem of our time-the small heart attacks of the brain, the main cause of which are arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis. The book contains modern data on the state of this problem and methods of studying it. The information based on the personal experience of the authors on the morphological changes in the vascular system and brain tissue and their pathogenesis with small heart attacks of the brain are presented. The clinical picture of small heart attacks of the brain is described in detail, while special significance is given to their symptomatology and syndrome analysis, as well as a set of modern methods of their diagnosis. Based on our own and world experience, the principles of treating small heart attacks of the brain are set out. Aspects of the modern strategy of primary and secondary prevention of small brain infarction are discussed, the characteristic and assessment of the main risk factors is given, the prospects for further research on the problem of small brain infarction are outlined
