Even Nikolai Gogol had problems with our own sexuality, so why should we, mere mortals, have to close in our complexes? Written in the 80s, when it was not customary to talk about sexual culture, and an active policy of developing family relations was conducted in the USSR, this book revealed all those moral prejudices of society that affects the sexual behavior of ordinary people. Changes affect the sexual health and everyday life of Russians, all the more interesting to observe which of the stereotypes we managed to deal with and which we still have to worry. Exploring how the attitude to the sensual side of life from pre -Christian times changed to the present, Igor Kon managed to deal with that pile of stereotypes and prejudices that accumulated in our minds over the centuries of the reign of social morality. On the example of erotic works of Pushkin, Lermontov and many other Russian classics, the author examined what influence the customs of their time had influenced their work and how they formed social ideas about sensuality and sexual life
