Information is presented about radiation factors causing radiation damage to animals and radionuclide pollution of livestock products, about the metabolism of radionuclides and the formation of absorbed doses during irradiation, clinical signs of radiation disease in agricultural animals. The principles of medical examination and sorting of agricultural animals in the territory contaminated with radionuclides, the system of state veterinary control of radioactive pollution of veterinary supervision facilities, methods for reducing the transition of radionuclides from feed to products of livestock, veterinary and sanitary examination and decontamination of livestock products are considered. Materials on the natural stability of animals to infectious diseases, their course, diagnosis and specific prevention in the territory with a high content of radionuclides, radiation safety of personnel and the population, as well as the problems of radiobiological education and the tasks of veterinary radiobiology.
