The second edition of the textbook complies with the requirements of the current federal state educational standard and the psychiatry program. It contains information about the works of outstanding psychiatrists, scientists who not only determined the most important psychopathological symptoms and syndromes, but also identifying individual nosological forms of psychoses.
The section of general psychopathology considers descriptive psychopathology in the evolutionary formation of the categorical apparatus of semiotics of mental illness. In the section of private psychiatry, the authors consistently prove the importance of the clarity of the basic definitions of mental illness with the analysis of the systematics of psychosis, taking into account the dichotomy "nosology - symptomatology" and the realities of the ICD -10.
Particular attention is paid to the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia. Borderline mental disorders (neurosis, post -traumatic stress disorder, psychopathy) are considered. The textbook is intended for students of medical universities.
