Positron emission tomography (PET) as a method of molecular visualization has existed for several decades. Primary PET began to be used for neurological diseases, in cardiology and then in oncology. But it was in oncology that the PET method has found its main application, and today it is impossible to imagine a complete diagnosis of patients with cancer without radioisotope diagnostics.
This publication is the result of many years of accumulated experience in daily practical work and scientific and clinical competencies of the PET Federal State Budgetary Institution “NMIC oncology named after N.N. Blokhina of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The work includes an analysis of observations of more than 15,000 patients who have undergone comprehensive diagnostics, including PET/CT. The book includes both the approaches that have not been tested for years and not losing its significance, and modern views and promising areas, originated recently. Undoubtedly, the dominant number of studies included in the work was carried out with 18FFG, but the task of this work was also to show the possibilities of using other radiopharmaceutical drugs, both independent technologies and in combination with others. The diagnostic capabilities of such drugs as 18F-choline, 18F-Typin, 18F-Timidin, 18F-FMISO, 18F-PCMA, a family of drugs 18F-Dota, 11C-Holin, 11C-metions and others are presented. Much attention was paid to the correlation of the possibilities of the possibilities PET/CT with a friend with their diagnostic methods (CT, MRI, ultrasound, scintigraphy).
The monograph is useful not only for practicing clinicians, but also for interns, residents and graduate students in the specialties X -ray, radiology, students of medical universities.
