This book from the series “Library of the cytologist” is the result of a long hard work of a group of cytologists, cytotechnologists, pathologists and urologists to develop the definitions, description and unification of the terminology of the cytological study of urine. The initiators of the implementation of the Paris Classification were the International Academy of Cytology and the American Society of Cytopathology.
Standardized conclusions should provide an accurate, understandable and predictable transfer of information so that the clinicians, according to the cytological study, can choose the optimal tactics of the patient. The significance of this work can be understood by briefly setting out issues that have accumulated in urology and oncology for years. The culmination of the work done was the publication of this atlas (such as the “Betesd classification” for other localizations), in which the definitions and clear criteria of the “Paris classification” were detailed in detail. The book contains numerous explanations and relevant thematic illustrations.
