As you know, the Federal State Educational Standard of the new generation completely changes the system of the formation of medical students. The main methodological component of the new GEF is a competency -based approach. The model of medical education consists in improving the level of students" knowledge by shifting an emphasis from the theory to practical training and professional disciplines. These factors change the requirements for textbooks for medical universities. The team of authors set the task to create a compact textbook with emphasis on the practical significance of diseases of the ear, throat and nose. The modern level of development of otorhinolaryngology is associated with the emergence of completely new areas of interdisciplinary nature (cochlear implantation, night apnea, surgery of the base of the skull), so the authors tried to give only a general representation of the material in these sections. Particular attention is paid to modern examination methods and radiological examination methods. Many sections of the textbook are devoted to urgent states in otorhinolaryngology. A whole chapter for pharmacotherapy was allocated, taking into account the general principles and approaches to the treatment of the most common otorhinolaryngological diseases.
