Odontogenic mediastinitis is one of the most severe complications of acute odontogenic inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial region. The problem of odontogenic mediastinitis remains relevant to date due to the high degree of its mortality (up to 70%), the complexity of timely diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures in practical medicine for its prevention.
The world has a small number of publications regarding the diagnosis and treatment of mediastinitis, due to a small number of specialists who have a sufficient theoretical and clinical base and can provide specialized assistance to this contingent of serious patients.
The authors of practical leadership have extensive experience in Russia, Kyrgyzstan and other foreign countries in the diagnosis and treatment of odontogenic inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial region and, in particular, odontogenic mediastinitis.
This work will be useful for maxillofacial surgeons, dentists, as well as general and thoracic surgeons
