Karen Horney (1885-1952) is one of the most outstanding psychoanalytic thinkers of the twentieth century. The book Neurosis and personal growth reveals the features of human behavior in terms of internal conflicts and protection. In this work, the author showed that with anxiety, which is generated by the absence of a sense of safety, love and recognition, the person copes with the fact that he refuses his true feelings and invents artificial protection strategies for himself, both intrapsychic and interpersonal. This understanding provides great opportunities for both practices engaged in psychology and psychotherapy, as well as scientists from different humanitarian areas
