This leadership reflects long -term research of authors in the field of neurology of premature children, and also summarizes the achievements of various neurological and neonatological schools in this area. The issues of epidemiology, etiology, development mechanisms and the nature of the lesions of the nervous system in premature children, taking into account the specific features of the formation of these damage at different stages of ontogenesis of the nervous system in a prematurely born baby, are considered. Significant attention is paid to the clinical manifestation of lesions of the brain of premature cerebral, modern methods of their diagnosis. A noticeable place is occupied by a description of the laws of further development of premature children, depending on the nature and severity of the brain damage.
