The monograph presents basic data on metabolic syndrome. The mechanisms of its development are considered. Based on the own studies on the basis of the multidisciplinary clinic of Medicine JSC, under the leadership of the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Efimovich Roitberg, a model for the formation of a multicomponent metabolic syndrome was built, each part of which represents an independent disease or condition.
The main factors of the progression of insulin resistance, its influence on the formation of arterial hypertension, obesity and other conditions associated with syndrome are considered. With the help of positron emission computed tomography, myocardial dysfunction was first assessed. The features of the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome are described in detail.
