The 3rd edition of the textbook made significant changes related to the introduction of new federal standards for training paramedics and nurses, new orders of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, a new program for psychology, including medical psychology and, finally, with the realities of today. In particular, they relate to the expansion of information about psychotherapy, the reactions to severe stress and the role of a medical psychologist. The textbook consists of 15 chapters and applications, including psychological tests and questionnaires, is equipped with tables and drawings. The textbook still pays significant attention to the description of individual mental processes and psychology of individual differences, age-related psychology, psychosomatic disorders, psychology of a sick person and the internal picture of the disease. The publication includes new chapters Psychology of Communication and Medical Conflictology. The main task of the textbook is to receive students" knowledge and skills provided for by the program. The textbook can also be used as a manual for practicing psychotherapists and psychologists working in epicenters of natural disasters and mass disasters, or in crisis centers, or in situations of “loss”
